Rahaman Family Vacation 2012

Yes, we managed to wrangle the Rahaman clan together again for another fun filled week! This year we decided to pretty much split the distance between us and the Miami Springs folks and decided to rent a house in Orlando. While there was no beach nearby, we found plenty of entertainment ;-) We got into the house on Friday, and it didn't take long to make ourselves at home. The first few days were mostly catching up, hanging out, and enjoying being on vacation. One evening a crew of us headed over to Downtown Disney to walk around an explore. I don't think there was much on the agenda, but it was fun to just get out of the house for a little bit. [caption id="attachment_1277" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Hanging out at the Lego store"][/caption] We did manage to also find plenty of fun things to do at the house whenever we weren't out galavanting around. ;-) [caption id="attachment_1258" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Run free, Niko! Run free!"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1279" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Sonny's version of a floating hammock"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1280" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="No beer pong table? Just look for a jacuzzi cover!"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1281" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Do I know how to relax or what?"][/caption] Our primary planned outing of the trip was to head over to Islands of Adventure so MC could finally see the Harry Potter park. The house was awakened with delighted chants of "We're going to Harry Potter! We're going to Harry Potter!"  Needless to say she was pretty excited ;-) [caption id="attachment_1282" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="All aboard to Hogwarts!"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1261" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Exploring Hogsmead / Diagon Alley"][/caption]
[caption id="attachment_1264" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Butterbeer mustache!"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1289" align="aligncenter" width="225" caption="No idea why I was giving Julie the evil eye"][/caption]
After exploring Hogsmead and Diagon Alley, it was time to head up to the castle for the main attraction! [caption id="attachment_1265" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Hogwarts!"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1283" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="A wild mullet appears!"][/caption] The ride was a lot of fun, but about half of it was a video screen and lots of artificial motion blur sometimes makes me a little queasy. It was still a very unique and awesome ride. We will definitely have to come back after the little one has arrived so MC can ride it too! [caption id="attachment_1267" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="A little photo op with the visiting schools"][/caption] After Harry Potter, it was time to continue to explore. Julie, Andrew, Mikey and I even got to hit a few rollercoasters, which was awesome since it had been many years since I had been on one! [caption id="attachment_1284" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="Ninja Julie making her way up the wall"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1268" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="I know SOMEONE'S having a good time!"][/caption] At least Maricruz didn't have to abstain from ALL the rides ;-)
It was a fun day, but being on our feet out in the sun definitely made for some VERY relaxed/nap time once we got home. :-) Then it was a couple more days of hanging out and having fun! [caption id="attachment_1286" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Niko's favorite position"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1270" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Puzzling was a primary pastime"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1275" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="Niko missed his momma when she went out without him"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1287" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Ready for pool warfare"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_1278" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="A tall, noisy, feathered visitor"][/caption] We even got some video clips!   Altogether it was an awesome, relaxing trip with lots of fun and family time!
