Nashville Trip!

This past weekend Maricruz and I did a true Fincher road trip with a short weekend trip up to Nashville! MC managed to get off work early on Friday and we hit the road early in the afternoon. Amazingly, we seemed to sync up quite well with a large northbound storm so we had a solid 7 hours of mostly rainy driving.  Combine that with some traffic and construction and it pushed our drive to a solid 10 hours.  What a way to start a weekend! We caught up with Lauren about all her exciting wedding planning news for a little while then had no problem hitting the sack. Woke up on Saturday to an unpleasant surprise.  My phone wouldn't turn on.  After a battery pull, it looked even less happy. [caption id="attachment_1193" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="No bueno"][/caption] Looked like I would be sharing phones with MC for the day!  We mostly breakfasted at Lauren's place then once we got together we decided to check out some "highland games" that we saw an ad for. It turned out to basically be a middle/high school track meet with a few highland activities mixed in. It was still a fun time and we went from there to Calypso to grab some lunch.  We got it to go so we could walk over to Centennial Park for a nice outdoor lunch! One the way out, MC and I had a little Titanic moment ;-) [caption id="attachment_1195" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="We're on top of the world!"][/caption] From there we ran a couple of errands, including checking out Lauren's wedding and bridesmaid dresses! We stopped for some refreshments at Walgreen's and I picked up some high quality brews to enjoy during the afternoon happy hour! [caption id="attachment_1196" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="3.49 a six-pack you say?"][/caption] Josh joined up with us at Lauren's place and we enjoyed a few hours of hanging out before our big evening plans! Lauren and Josh got decked out and it was time to hit the town! [caption id="attachment_1198" align="aligncenter" width="360" caption="Aren't they a cute engaged couple!?"][/caption] We caught the bus over to one of Lauren and Josh's regular places, the Flying Saucer! The Flying Saucer is an awesome Nashville beer joint, and they did not disappoint! We had some good food and some awesome beers then it was time to mosey over to the Predators game! We didn't have any snazzy Preds gear like my sis and Josh, so we went straight to the shop once we got to the game.  Got our gear then headed to our seats! I hadn't been to a hockey game in a very long time and it was a first time for MC.  I really enjoy watching hockey and hope we can make it a recurring activity whenever we vist Nashville. [caption id="attachment_1200" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Go Preds!"][/caption] It turned out to be a really good game, even if we ended up losing 5-4. No big fights, but still a blast to watch :-) We walked back to Lauren's place and packed it in. Sunday we got up and had breakfast with Lauren then hit the road back to Tallahassee.  Quick trip! Luckily, we had WAY better weather on the drive back.  We even managed to coordinate a quick stop with the Ropers on the way home! It was great to catch up with them, even if it was briefly and it was nice to finally make it home.  Over 1000 miles for the weekend and MC was a trooper! :-)
