The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's NestThe Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third and final in this series and picked up exactly where Girl Who Played With Fire left off. This was nice because books 1 and 2 both started off a little on the slow side and took a while for me to really get into it. I believe I mentioned something similar in the review of a previous book in the series, but one of the few things that I wasn't a big fan of was the ridiculous details that the author decided to provide at times. Here's an example:
Martensson left home at 7:40 that morning. He got into his Volvo and drove towards the city but turned off to go across Stora Essingen and Grondal ino Sodermalm. He drove down Hornsgatan and across to Bellmansgatan via Brannkyrkagatan. He turned left onto Tavastgatan at the Bishop's Arms pub and parked at the corner.

Unless you live in and are familiar with the city in which this part of the story takes place, most of that paragraph just seems unnecessary. This is just his style though because this kind of detail pops up all over the place in the book.

Overall, I quite enjoyed the entire series and the final book did a good job of tying up loose ends. Sad that the author passed away right after writing the books, but at least he left a cohesive, entertaining, and thrilling complete series.

Flash 6k

This was my first 6k (as far as I remember).  Since we are still taking it easy, especially since Maricruz has been having some knee issues after snowboarding, this was a fairly relaxed race with walk breaks.  One thing I will definitely note is that bug spray is a must for this race.  Maricruz and Julia didn't seem to have an issue, but I had no less than 10 bug bites before I even got to the starting line.  Everything felt pretty good and it was a nice, flat little race!
